Popis: It is widely accepted that the academic language is important for students’ success in school and later life. In a new approach we bring together the practice of Philosophy for Children (P4C) and its thinking tools with the communicative and epistemic functions of academic language. The empirical findings support the assumption that P4C and scaffolding are a promising cognitive and communicative approach for the acquisition, use and teaching of academic language.
