Popis: Image-guided tumor ablation was developed as a surgical technique to provide a minimally invasive alternative to open procedures. Over the years multiple methods have been developed to destruct the tumor tissue. Modern techniques include the use of heating and cooling systems (thermoablation), such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA) and cryoablation. Local ablation has quickly become the preferred method of treatment of benign bone tumors as osteoid osteoma and a valuable tool in the treatment of painful metastases.
