The shortage in basic demands during the COVID-19 pandemic influenced the government of India to think about reviving the local industries for making the people economically independent the self-reliant. ‘Vocal for Local’ is one of its initiatives to motivate people to use and promote local resources and techniques. Tant Saree, an inherently located traditional treasure from West Bengal, is one of the components of the Indian textile industry. This local product needs to be popularized in all the states and abroad as well. Therefore, this study tries to hold forth the present condition of this product and its way forward to improve its circularization in the market at the best reach. Tant weavers are in miserable conditions and they are at a saturation point to leave their profession. Bestowing the policy interventions, the government should provide financial assistance to Tant weavers to purchase modern equipment for setting up their place in the national market and also to popularize Tant Saree with the help of digital marketing during such a pandemic situation. |
