Popis: | 1. 1. The activities of several enzymes of the pentose—phosphate pathway were examined in liver from neonatal pigs on day 0, 2, 6, 14, 21 and 65. 2. 2. Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity did not change, 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase activity decreased slightly by day 14 and 21 but rose again by day 65 and transketolase activity gradually increased after birth; while glycogen levels fell from extremely high levels on the day of birth to a minimum on day 2 and stabilized thereafter. |
