Popis: The primary fuel for light-water nuclear reactors is natural or slightly enriched (3–5%) uranium dioxide. Estimates of the world reserves of uranium resources are based on the cost of recovery for various ore types and classified as reasonably assured, estimated, or additional, speculative resources. World reactor-related requirements are expected to increase from usage through the year 2010. Additional sources of uranium are expected to come from the use of reprocessed plutonium in mixed-oxide fuels, the deenrichment of weapon-grade, high enriched uranium with natural uranium, and the fabrication of mixed-oxide fuels using surplus weapons-grade plutonium. Keywords: uranium reserves; nuclear fuel reserves; uranium resources; unconventional resources; low grade reserves; highly enriched uranium; cancer; renal damage
