Between September 2020 and April 2021 Compass Archaeology conducted an archaeological watching brief on paving improvement works at six City churchyards. The work at St Sepulchre's, Holborn Viaduct was conducted on the 22nd April 2021. The works monitored and recorded the removal of paving slabs in the south-eastern corner of the site. The removal of the stone slabs exposed the brickwork and mortar of the retaining wall adjacent to the entrance steps. Due to a slight slope the depth of excavated varied between 60 and 120mmbgl.
