Thispaper evaluates the developments in Diyarbakir during the National Struggle based on the news and articles in the American press. Assessment of the developments in and about Diyarbakir in the context of the American press during the National Struggle period formed the scope of the study. The study aims to present the developments in Diyarbakir during the National Struggle, by using the information in the American press. It is understood that the American press organs closely followed the developments in Diyarbakir throughout the period. The primary driving force for this study was the lack of previous research in this area. In this study, the comparative analysis method was preferred. Accordingly, news and articles on the subject in the American press were identified and classified, and then the information was compared with the information in domestic sources and then included in the scope of the evaluation. The news and articles, which are obviously written for propaganda purposes and contain false information were excluded from this evaluation. The possible findings of the study are that the American press constantly changes its attitude towards the developments in Diyarbakir and that it contributes to the literature of research on the subject. |
