Popis: | 1. Pyrolytic gas chromatography has been used to investigate the thermal stability and the composition of the degradation products obtained from the additive ABES. Components with boiling points up to about 300°C have been identified. Hydrogen sulfide is the main sulfur-containing product obtained by thermal breakdown of the additive. Present in very small amounts is ethyl mercaptan, with diethyl sulfide, carbon disulfide, and aromatic sulfur-containing compounds. 2. The initial decomposition temperature of the ABES additive has been determined at the break in the curves plotted for the relative amounts of hydrogen sulfide and ethylene as functions of the test temperature. These data are in agreement with those obtained by thermographic analysis. |
