The study discusses virtual care, a technology-based platform that allows patients to receive healthcare remotely, reducing the need for physical hospital visits. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of virtual care, but it has also highlighted disparities in health equity, creating a digital divide. The article explores the patient perspective of equity-deserving populations (EDPs) and whether virtual healthcare meets their basic physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, and efficacy of virtual care for EDPs. The article will focus on identifying key implementation considerations of providing virtual care for EDPs, detailing types of virtual care used by EDPs, identifying barriers and facilitators to virtual care by EDPs, and recommendations and solutions to foster greater awareness and access to virtual care for EDPs. |
