Popis: The kinetics of decomposition of dicumyl peroxide (DP) in solution in oligovinylorganosiloxanes and in oligosiloxanes free from vinyl groups, over the range of temperatures of 130–200°C, have been studied for the first by mass spectrometry. The energy of activation, the rate constant of decomposition and the ratio of the rates of the competing reactions occurring in decomposition of DP and initiation of polymerization of the oligovinylorganosiloxanes were determined. It was found that in all instances the fraction of oxycumyl radicals decomposing is considerably greater than the fraction that does not decompose, and the total relative rate of addition of free radicals to the vinyl groups of the oligomers is higher than that of abstraction of hydrogen.
