Popis: | Toxins evolved convergently in all major animal groups for predation, defense or competition. They are either actively employed with a delivery apparatus as venoms, or passively secreted as poisons. The evolutionary arms race between toxicity and resistance in predators and their prey optimised effective toxin cocktails, which thus represent powerful candidates for translational research. |
