This study was done to assess the significance of serum Paraoxonase as an biomarker along with standard liver function tests in evaluating alcoholic cirrhosis. Serum Paraoxonase levels was estimated in 30 patients diagnosed with alcoholic cirrhosis and 30 healthy blood donors. Paraoxonase levels were significantly lower in cases as compared with controls (P Conclusion : Serum Paraoxonase is sensitive marker for patients with alcoholic liver disease and oxidative stress and should be included as an additional parameter along with the other parameters in liver function tests.
