The CsIn phase diagram

Popis: A complex study of phase equilibria in the CsIn system was performed. Thermoanalytical data on the melting point curve agree satisfactorily with the results of magnetic measurements on the alloys. Single crystals of the compounds CsIn4 and Cs2In3 were synthesized and their characteristics were determined with X-rays. CsIn4 crystallizes in the tetragonal crystal system with lattice constants a = 7.089 A and c = 6.693 A . Cs2In3 crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system with lattice parameters a = 6.805 A , b = 6.965 A and c = 16.40 A . The boundaries of immiscibility for liquid alloys were determined using magnetochemical analysis and the γ ray method: the monotectic temperature is 570 °C, the critical temperature is about 730 °C and the compositions of the immiscible solutions at 570 °C are about 40 and 90 at.% Cs.
