Popis:	The aim of this paper is to outline a mathematical scheme for the description of the overall behaviour of infinite nuclear matter: it has been conceived with the pragmatic purpose of providing simple tools for carrying out realistic numerical calculations. To this end we shall revive some insufficiently explored aspects of vintage theories, which seem to have been by-passed by recent theoretical developments.
