Popis: | The chemical compatibility results studied by measurement of sorption, diffusion and swelling of seven aromatic liquids into four geomembranes viz. high density polyethylene (HDPE), linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), very low density polyethylene (VLDPE) and polypropylene (PP) are presented at 25, 50 and 70'C. Diffusion coefficients have been calculated using Fick's equation. The swelling of geomembranes was measured by monitoring the dimensional response of the membranes and thereby calculating the increase in volume. Results of this research would be useful in the proper selection of a suitable geomembrane for a specific application involving exposure to organic liquids. |
