Popis: The ability of an animal to modify its dispersive mechanisms as a response to density appears to vary among species to some extent. This ability may be critical in providing a means whereby aggregative tendencies may be reduced as overall density increases. Without such a reduction, mutual interference between individuals within an aggregation may well limit a population at rather low overall densities.
