Popis: | Cystic fibrosis remains one of the most frequent and serious genetic disorders in children. Great strides have been made in understanding the defects in cystic fibrosis. In addition, aggressive treatment has led to improved survival so that many individuals with cystic fibrosis now live into adulthood. However, respiratory infections in children with cystic fibrosis continue to be the leading cause of hospitalization, morbidity, and mortality. This article reviews the risk factors for acquiring respiratory pathogens in children with cystic fibrosis, the types of organisms that cause infection, and treatment options. |
