In vivo conversion of noradrenalin to 3-hydroxy-4-0-β-D glucosidobenzoic acid by the american cockroach

Popis: The injection of carbinol- 14 C-noradrenalin into adult female American cockroaches resulted in the formation of labelled protocatechuic acid glucoside (3-hydroxy-4-0-β- d glucosylbenzoic acid). The glucoside was isolated metabolites were also identified such as 3,4 dihydroxymandelic acid, 3,4 dihydroxybenzalcohol, 3,4 dihydroxybenzaldehyde and tentatively the glucoside of the alcohol (3-hydroxy-4-0-β- d glucosidobenzalcohol). The significance of these data is discussed in regard to the in vivo synthesis of the oothecal sclerotization agents.
