Popis: 1. The condensation of aldehydes or ketones with N-acylglycines with subsequent hydrolysis of the resulting azlactones of 2-(acylamino)-3-alkyl(or aryl) acrylic acids must be regarded as another general method for the synthesis of α-keto acids. 2. The synthesis of 3-methyl-2-oxobutyric acid by condensation of acetone with hippuric acid and subsequent hydrolysis of the azlactone was repeated. 3. A new synthesis of 3-methyl-2-oxovaleric acid is described, namely, condensation of butanone with hippuric acid and subsequent hydrolysis of the resulting azlactone of 2-benzamido-3-methyl-2-pentenoic acid.
