Popis: | The nuclear magnetic resonance (nmr) technique has been applied successfully to problems of measuring chemical rate processes in solutions. This review is devided into two parts: In the first section an outline of the relationships between the nmr lineshapes and the mean lifetime of the species is given. The experimental evaluation of the chemical rate constants from the mean lifetimes is discussed. The second part reviews various applications such as proton exchange, electron transfer, hindered rotation and inversion. Some of the results are summarized in Tables. The limitations of the nmr application in each case are discussed. A brief description of the analytical use of nmr in the study of rate processes concludes the review. |
