Popis: | The response of a finite-length elastic sapphire rod to low-velocity longitudinal impact is investigated theoretically and experimentally. Deformation and wave propagation processes in a sapphire rod are considered. Several theoretical approaches, based on one-dimensional and three-dimensional models, are considered to analyze of rod response. An analytical-numerical solution of the problem is offered. The orientation of crystallographic axes on the velocity of propagation of strain waves in sapphire rods is investigated. Experimental data are obtained using dynamic broadband strain gauge measurements. Theoretical and experimental results are compared, and they are found to be in good agreement. |
