The medical records of hospitalized patients with CAP having diabetes mellitus were identified and we compare with the rest of the patients. Results: Of the 414 pneumonia patients evaluated, 92(22%) had diabetes mellitus. Patients with diabetes mellitus were older (71 ±10 vs. 61 ±19 years old) had more often cardiac failure [50(54%) vs. 96(30%)] and receiving frequently statins [29(56%) vs. 45(24%), p Conclusions: Although the presentation of CAP in diabetics is more severe than the others patients with CAP, with acute renal failure and uremia; the evolution of the disease is similar and so the mortality.
