Popis: This project explores the shorter and longer term efficacy of using the online peer-to-peer support application, Talk Life, to mitigate self-injury frequency and severity though increased perceived support, engagement in formal therapy (actual or intended), and changes in cognitive-emotional well-being. We conduct an 8 week long randomized controlled trial with two groups (experimental: prescriptive Talk Life use, control: no Talk Life use). Throughout these 8 weeks both groups respond to weekly surveys. Follow-up surveys are administered at 1 and 2 months post-intervention period. Aims: (1) Determine the efficacy of Talk Life in decreasing the frequency, severity and urge to self-injure; (2) To identify and articulate the plausible mechanisms through which observed changes occur.
