Popis: | This article argues that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government’s neighbourhood policy is deeply influenced by three factors: its ideological moorings, its domestic political calculations and the aggressive nature of the government. The article also argues that these three drivers of the Modi’s government’s regional policy have undergone a noticeable change during the second term. While the impact of these three variables on Modi 1.0 was more pronounced, their impact on Modi 2.0 has evidently subsided. This suggests a course correction in the government of India’s regional policy. The article also suggests that this course correction is a result of the rise of China in the region and the pushback by India’s South Asian neighbours. |
