Popis: According to the Statistical Bulletin of the 23rd edition of the CNT Highway Survey (2019), 59% of Brazilian highways have some type of problem regarding their general condition. The pavement degradation process comes from factors such as traffic, weather conditions, construction processes, drainage, structure, materials, adopted maintenance, among others. Thus, based on the concept of Ecodynamics, it is important to understand that pavement deterioration factors can also be greatly influenced by the environment. Therefore, this work seeks to quantify the vulnerability of flexible road pavements on the BR-230 highway, Campina Grande/PB-João Pessoa/PB, as well as to identify regions with greater vulnerability to reducing the useful life of the pavement and to elaborate an Index of Pavement Vulnerability (VPI) from the technique that synthesizes the sum of variables using map algebra, where the superposition of the following classes was applied: Geomorphology, Coverage, Drainage, Geology, Digital Elevation Model, Precipitation, Declivity, Soils and Texture. When verifying the combinations of IVP classification, the studied region presented more than 50% of areas with some level of stability and just over 48% with a certain risk of vulnerability. It was possible to perceive that the construction of maps is a tool of great importance in the initial orientation of the vulnerability study aimed at the degradation of pavements and that the index is a significant instrument with the power to help the responsible bodies in the management of more intensive paving projects. effective in terms of climatic conditions and human actions.
