Popis: Dissatisfaction with career prospects and development opportunities has been shown to be highly significant in explaining nurses' job satisfaction, organisational commitment and intention to leave (Collins et al, 2000; Shields and Ward, 2001; Fochsen et al, 2005). The purpose of this article is to identify nurses' job aspirations and examine the underlying factors that influence their ambitions. The findings add to understanding of the factors influencing career satisfaction among nurses and therefore identify implications for managers responsible for providing opportunities for staff to progress in their careers.
