Popis: | Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are becoming more and more prevalent in defense applications, homeland security, and even civilian applications. The software systems that operate UAVs are a critical component of any UAV system. This paper discusses several of the challenges that we have faced while developing software for UAV systems. These include the challenges associated with extending the capabilities of existing mapping software to accommodate our desired functionality, the synchronization of video and telemetry data, and the construction of a computer application that can send and receive information to and from the autopilot system. As UAV software systems become more prevalent, these challenges need to be addressed by software engineers building software for these systems. |
