Popis: | Mono- to tetrachlorinated dibenzoselenophenes, the selenium analogs of chlorinated dibenzofurans, and in addition dibenzoselenophene, are shown to be formed by thermal reaction of hexachlorobiphenyls with selenium. The new compounds were characterized and detected by high resolution gas chromatography - low resolution mass spectrometry. Dibenzoselenophene was tentatively identified in an exhaust gas sample from a hazardous waste incinerator. To our knowledge the environmental significance and the toxicology of dibenzoselenophenes is unknown; due to the structural similarities of chlorinated dibenzofurans and dibenzoselenophenes similar properties can however be taken into consideration. |
