Energy spectra from the reactions 28Si(γ, p)27Al and 28Si(γ, α)24Mg have been measured with good resolution (≈ 70 keV) by irradiating a silicon surface barrier detector with bremsstrahlung at a number of energies between 16.2 MeV and 23.2 MeV. The partial cross sections, 28Si(γ, α0)24Mg and 28Si(γ, p0)27Al, have been determined absolutely throughout this energy range, together with the proton branching ratios to the first two excited states of 27Al for each of the major states observed in 28Si. The results are compared with current particle-hole calculations. |
