Popis: | In the present study, a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was fabricated with CeO2 nanoparticles for electrochemical determination of an anti-anginal drug Ranolazine (RZ). CeO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal approach and characterized using techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) and Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FT-IR). Further, CeO2/GCE was characterized using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Reduction in charge transfer resistance and augmentation in electron transfer process was observed at the modified sensor. Voltammetric techniques like square-wave and cyclic voltammetry were employed to study the electrochemical behaviour of the drug at modified sensor. The influence of operational parameters such as pH, scan rate and concentration on analytical performance of the sensor were also investigated. Under optimized conditions, CeO2/GCE showed a well defined oxidation peak in Britton-Robinson buffer at pH 6.5 in ethanol. Experimental results revealed that the developed sensor showed improved electrocatalytic activity towards oxidation of Ranolazine as compared to bare GCE. The proposed sensor provided advantages of long-term stability, good reproducibility and ease of preparation. The method was also successfully employed for Ranolazine determination in pharmaceutical formulations with good accuracy and precision. |
