Previous studies show the significance of social identification on the well-being of employees (van Dick & Haslam, 2012). However, there are currently no studies on social identity switching and well-being, that is, whether people can cognitively move from one identity to another (“switching off”). This may be a particular issue where work and home identities are highly similar, such as with teachers that are known to suffer from high levels of stress and burnout (Avanzi et al., 2015). Therefore, the proposed research aims to investigate how social identity switching processes of parents, whose professions are teaching, have an impact on their wellbeing and burnout. |
