Critical Current Property and Irreversibility Line in Superconducting Hg-1212

Popis: Recently discovered Hg-based oxide superconductors are found to be less anisotropic than Bi-based ones and expected to have superior irreversible properties. In order to investigate the irreversible property in this material, the critical current density and the irreversibility line in sintered bulk Hg-1212 specimens are measured. The history effect of the critical current density due to the weak link property between grains is observed. The obtained irreversibility field is compared with the results for other various superconductors and it is found that the irreversibility field is as low as that in Bi-2223 superconductors. This result indicates that the superconductivity in the sintered Hg-1212 is as strongly two-dimensional as Bi-2223.
