Popis: A study was conducted at IARI, Research Farm, New Delhi, during the winter (rabi) season of 2009–10 with 12 chickpea genotypes grown under restricted soil moisture condition. On the basis of results obtained, seed protein (%) was highest in Pusa 1103 (30.80), followed by BG 1101 (29.77), Pusa 362 (29.13) and BGD 112 (28.87); and therefore, Pusa 362 and Pusa 1103 can be used in breeding programme for improving protein content in seed under restricted soil moisture condition. Genotypic, phenotypic coefficient of variation, heritability, genetic advance, correlation coefficients and path coefficients analysis were performed for yield and its contributing parameters along with protein and cold tolerance index in chickpea genotypes. Analysis of variance for traits studied showed significant (P
