Popis: | Induction of optical anisotropy in benzaldehyde polymer layers by linearly polarized UV radiation was investigated experimentally. Negative dichroism in absorption spectra and strong negative birefringence (–2 · 10–3) were related to the presence of an oriented ensemble of residual benzaldehyde groups. The thermal stability of photoinduced birefringence at high photosensitive group concentration was associated with a high density of photocross-links formed between macromolecules. |
