Popis:	In this paper, a new system for improvement of the pulse contrast in CPA laser systems by use of an ultrafast OPA is reviewed together with a scheme to create sub‐picosecond synchronized OPA pump pulses. The scheme is being implemented at the PHELIX facility at GSI‐Darmstadt, Germany.
