Search for antimatter at the 10−7 level with the polar patrol balloon

Popis: A new annihilation technique for antimatter search is under development of the balloon experiments in the Antarctica. The capability of antiparticle‐particle discrimination of the detector is about 10−9 by combining the Cherenkov technique, 10−5, which was confirmed by using accelerator antiproton beams, and topological methods, 10−4. The polar balloon flight with the 1/4 m2 detector will reach to the flux sensitivities around 10−7 level for antiprotons and antiheliums and the 10−6 level for heavier antinuclei.
