Popis: | Magnesium and its alloys are promising candidates for developing degradable metallic implants. Magnesium alloys have mechanical properties close to human bone and can degrade in physical environment without producing any toxic by-products. This makes the studies on corrosion characteristics of low Calcium containing Mg-Ca alloys significant. In this work, Mg-Ca alloy is subjected to deep cryogenic treatment in liquid nitrogen at a temperature of -77 K. The effect of cryogenic treatment on microstructure and corrosion of sample is analysed. The hardness and contact angle of a cryogenically cooled sample is measured and compared with the base sample |
