Popis: | Electrocardiography forms part of the routine workup of any patient who presents with a suspected diagnosis of peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM). In this chapter, we describe the common electrocardiogram (ECG) abnormalities found in PPCM and their prognostic significance. We also review the additional benefit of ambulatory electrocardiographic (AECG) monitoring for the detection of paroxysmal arrhythmias in PPCM. As PPCM is associated with better recovery of left ventricular systolic function than other forms of dilated cardiomyopathy, we discuss the benefits of the wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) during the different stages of disease progression. |
