We are running out of crude oil resources, biodiesel is a promising alternative. However, the usage of biodiesel and its blends are associated with problems in atomization of fuel. The main reason is the high viscosity of oils extracted from green matter. The viscosity of oils is inversely proportional to temperature i.e. as temperature increases the viscosity decreases. Present study discusses the effects of preheated biodiesel and its blends on the performance and emissions of diesel engines. The supply of preheated biodiesel increases thermal efficiency (7.3%) and decreases CO, HC emissions but result in increase in NOx emissions. |
