Bryophyte Invasion on Famous Archaeological Site of Ahom Dynasty ‘Talatal Ghar’ of Sibsagar, Assam (India)

Popis: | The city of Sibsagar, Assam is famous for the monuments of Ahom kingdom. The remains of one such monument, Talatal Ghar is facing problem of invasion by bryophytes (liverworts and mosses). Among the species of bryophytes growing on the wall, seven were identified; of them four were liverworts and three mosses. Colonization behaviour of the species was studied in order to develop a strategy to conserve buildings of archaeological importance. |
