CAVERNOUS SINUS THROMBOSIS IN A CHILD FOLLOWING TONSILLECTOMY

Popis: Cavernous sinus thrombosis is thought to be the result of infection of either the paranasal sinuses or the upper lip and nasal vestibule. It is rarely seen in primary acute disease of the sinuses but more often in secondary acute diseases. Cavernous sinus thrombosis is common in cases of ill treated furuncles on the upper lip and nasal vestibule, and the cause is well understood. To date I have not found in the literature any instance of thrombosis of the cavernous sinus following infection in the fauces or throat. Therefore, I am reporting the following case so that it may be made a matter of record. REPORT OF CASE On April 20, 1928, I operated on four children of a Mexican family.
