In this article, an effort has been taken to predict the performance of the proposed tilted wick type solar still with better accuracy. The key parameters for the proposed model is the condensing glass slope angle, its transmittance and interception of solar radiation over the corrugated and spreaded wick surface during the working hours of the system. The evaluation has been made by the concept of solar fraction and the results show that the parameters are found to be significant for the prediction of thermal performance. Numerical results obtained for the investigative solutions were validated with the experimental results for one of the distinctive days in each month and the hypothetical results found promising with the investigational observations. The suggested model is found to be more accurate in the assessment of thermal performance of the system. |
