Popis: | The treatment of the ruptured achilles tendon has improved with the introduction of new operative techniques. Despite that, there is no consensus between operative and conservative treatment. The most important aspect in operating on a ruptured achilles tendon is it's blood supply. The knowledge of the regular achilles tendons vascular system is essential for it's repair. Based on our microradiological and histological studies we have seen that the majority of the blood supply approaches the tendon via the paratenon. The middle part of the tendon, which is most frequently ruptured, benefits the most from the paratenons blood supply. This leads the conclusion, that remodeling the tendon with fibrin as well as thorough reconstruction of the paratenon is the most non invasive operative technique. |
