INTRODUCTION: Severe cases of influenza have been often seen in younger people in pandemics. The aim of this study is to recognize the clinical impact of vaccination in a seasonal outbreak in relationship with age. METHODS: A retrospective study performed from January to March 2014 in Hospital Miguel Servet, Zaragoza, Spain; studying hospitalized adults with severe influenza A virus infection (H1N1pdm09 or H3N2). The demographic data, clinical manifestations and vaccination status were compared between H1N1 and H3N2 Influenza A virus group.
