Popis: | The Jordanian National Water Master Plan (2004) stipulates water demand management (WDM) as one of the central strategies in achieving a more efficient and cost-effective water use. A new study under the funding mechanism of a regional program, led by the French Development Agency, reviewed and analyzed the situation in different sectors of water consumption, updated information on water values and applied economic assessment approaches to selected cases of ongoing WDM activities. The findings provide the basis for analysis and consistency checks of scenarios, which were developed in workshops with experts from the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Water Authority of Jordan, the Jordan Valley Water Authority and the Water and Environmental Research and Study Center of the University of Jordan. A core outcome of this study will be a policy brief for wider dissemination to stakeholders and decision makers in Jordan and other Mediterranean countries. |
