Popis: | The effect of cooling rates on the microstructural development and on the dielectric properties of barium- and niobium-doped TiO 2 ceramics was investigated. It was found that extensive abnormal grain growth occurred in the cooling period after sintering. The extent of the abnormal grain growth had a maximum in certain intermediate cooling rates. The abnormal grain growth was thought to be caused by non-uniform precipitation of the BaTi 4 O 9 second phase during cooling. The amount of precipitated second phase and the resulting dielectric properties depended strongly on the rate of cooling. |
