Popis: Background/Objective: Community-acquired respiratory viral infections (CRV) are a threat to the hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) patient, particularly those treated as outpatients. High motrality rates have been associated with CRV pneumonia. Also CRV is responsible for unscheduled re-admissions, lengthy treatments, and increased medical costs. In investigations of non-HSCT households, the presence of CRV infections and their spread in households correlated to secondary family members. The objectives of this study were to determine if children or the number of contacts living in the immediate household increase the risk for the HSCT patient acquiring a CRV.
