Alkylation and some physicoc hemical characteristics of 6,7- and 7,8- dihydroxycoumarins

Popis:	The lower selectivity of the methylation of 4-methyl-7,8-dihydroxycoumarin as compared with the methylation of 6,7-dihydroxycoumarins is explained by means of the pKa values and data from the PMR and IR spectra by the slight difference in the acidity of the hydroxyl groups in the 7- and 8-positions.
