THE EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF CORNEAL COLLAGEN CROSS-LINKING IN THE TREATMENT OF PROGRESSIVE KERATOCONUS

Popis:	We studied two groups of patients of which 25 patients (25 eyes) were operated on for progressive keratoconus using corneal collagen crosslinking and 36 patients (36 eyes) were operated on for progressive keratoconus using a modified crosslinking technique. We found that corneal re-epithelialization was faster in the second group. The confocal microscopy showed that histomorphological changes were more pronounced in the first group at all stages of the follow-up period. The modified technique proved to be safer and caused fewer histomorphological changes in the cornea after corneal collagen crosslinking.
