Popis: The author introduces the papers in this volume. The introduction describes the development of a 2010 conference concerned with the collaboration and polarization between Sigmund Freud and C. G. Jung. It frames the discussion in relation to an interactive dynamic between competing theoretical models in which elements that are suppressed in one theory may be taken up explicitly in another. The paper suggests that the field of depth psychology, whether from a Freudian or Jungian perspective, has become less polarized as each school integrates elements of the common ground of psyche that were historically held more by the other.
